Utilization of Sago Solid Waste for Bioethanol Production With Variation of Sago Solid Waste-Solvent Ratio and Pre-treatment Time

چکیده

Abstract Sago solid waste is a lignocellulosic material that can be used as raw for making bioethanol. The lignin component of lignocellulose slow saccharification by preventing cellulase enzymes from accessing cellulose. pre-treatment stage the first lignocellulose-to-bioethanol conversion process, and it to lower levels in lignocellulose. Saccharification fermentation are next processes turning was carried out this study using 10% NaOH solution at 4 bar pressure reactor temperature 140 °C, while stages were simultaneously (SSF) yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae 30 °C pH 5. ratio sago period process varied study. solvent ratios 1:5, 1:6, 1:7, with processing times beginning 20 minutes, 40 minutes. maximum reduction results (60.11%) obtained 1:7 time highest yield mass (35.14%) 1:5 duration initial treatment then continued SSF 0 hours, 24 48 72 hours bioethanol content 12% hours.

Risk Factors Associated with Solid Waste Treatment

Asit Nema Foundation for Greentech Environmental Systems G-178, Sarita Vihar, New Delhi, India 110 076 ABSTRACT There are close to 5100 odd municipalities across India wherein the problem of municipal solid waste (MSW) management has reached critical dimensions. It is estimated that 285 million urban population in India (≈ 28% of the total population) is generating almost 120,000 MT/d of MSW. T...

Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Olive Industry Solid Waste into Glucose, the Precursor of Bioethanol

Olive industry solid waste (OISW) is a by-product generated in the process of olive oil extraction. It is a lignocellulosic material consisting of cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin and other extractives. In this work, a process for hydrolyzing the OISW into its monomers glucose, the precursor of bioethanol was developed.  The hydrolysis process involves two stages: in the first stage, the O...

Hydrothermal Treatment of Municipal Solid Waste to Produce Solid Fuel

This paper describes the application of innovative hydrothermal technology on local municipal solid waste (MSW) to produce low chlorine content solid co-firing fuel with coal. Raw MSW was treated at temperatures ranging from 210 to 235°C with 30 to 90 minutes holding period. The process yielded slump products which were then naturally dried to 5% moisture content, resulted in dry products with ...

Methane Production from Municipal Solid Waste

Introduction Archaeological investigations of landfills have revealed that biodegradable wastes can be found — virtually intact — 25 years after burial. We know that landfills contain bacteria with the metabolic capability to degrade many of the materials that are common components of municipal refuse. The persistence for decades of degradable materials in the presence of such organisms appears...

An integrated approach of composting methodologies for solid waste management

Organic fraction of solid waste, which upon degradation produces foul smell and generates pathogens, if not properly managed. Composting is not a method of waste disposal but it is a method of waste recycling and used for agricultural purposes. An integrated approach of composting methodology was tested for municipal solid waste management. Solid waste first was composted and after 22 days, was...
